The Eaton PTO is excited to announce the return of International Night!

International Night is an annual event in which parents, students, and members of the Eaton community join to celebrate the school’s diversity. This is a favorite event for Eaton families and always a lot of fun. Please join us in celebrating the international diversity of our school.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is International Night?

A: A free, fun-filled event for the whole family to celebrate the many and varied backgrounds of our students, to teach our students a little about other countries and cultures from around the world, and provide an opportunity for our families to connect and learn a little about one another.

Q: What does International Night look like?

A: Students and their families typically set up tables to represent their country of origin, and our students and families walk from table to table, sampling food and looking at artifacts, posters, maps and flags to learn more about that country. There may be art and craft activities, games, etc. depending on what each country representative decides to do.

Q: What are some ideas for a table display?

A: Ideas for your table displays could include:

  • National dress
  • Pictures of food
  • Maps
  • Flags
  • Videos
  • Books
  • Crafts
  • Games
  • Sports teams
  • List of national holidays
  • Music
  • Trinkets
  • Nibbles and tastes to share [Please list any common allergies.]
  • Anything that you think showcases your country

Q: Does the Eaton PTO provide anything to help me set up a table?

A: The Eaton PTO will provide a table(s), table cloth, utensils, plates, and napkins. We ask that you please provide your own serving utensils for any food items.

Q: How do I sign up to host a table or help with the event?

A: Sign up to host a table, or to help volunteer, by Friday, May 5 here: International Night Country Booth and Volunteer Sign-ups.

Q: When do I need to commit to hosting a table?

A: For our planning purposes, we need to know the number of tables by Friday, May 5.

Q: I’m hosting a table, do I need to dress up?

A: Wearing attire representing your country is encouraged but definitely not required.

Q: What if I’m from a country where I know there will be a lot of participation?

A: We can connect you if you’d like to work together, or you can host your own table. The more the merrier! Just use the comment section on Konstella to indicate your preference.

Q: Which countries have been represented in the past?

A: Because of the pandemic, we haven’t held this event since 2019. Previously, however, tables from India, France, Iran, China, Japan, Mexico and more were present during the event. We would love to see as many nations as possible represented this year!

Q: What if I have additional questions?

A: Reach out to us at info@eatonpto.org.
